AMANDA MEADER
I have had the pleasure of knowing Amanda since May 2018. We met at Odyssey Yoga Studio in Longmont. Amanda was a seasoned hot yoga teacher and I was fresh out of teacher training. After taking just a few of her classes, I realized that Amanda was a very special and knowledgeable teacher. I always enjoyed taking her classes and learned so much about hot yoga from her. Lucky for Haute Yoga Colorado, Amanda was available when we opened our doors last summer.
Recently Amanda embarked on her advanced teacher training and is now holds her 500 CYT certificate as well as her Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) certification. She has primarily taught the Bikram Style hot yoga but has now added a certification in Integrated Vinyasa(TM). This is a big accomplishment and we are all so proud of her work.

Please enjoy getting to know Amanda and what she has been doing since the Covid-19 outbreak.Who do you share your life with?I live with my fab Husband Mike and we share 4 fur babies, a chocolate lab names Sunflower, a blue healer named Stormy, and two hell raising kittens, a tabby named Muffin and a torti named Meiko. |
Where did you grow up and where did you go to school?Florida is where I grew up. I attended the University of Florida and then finished my degree at CSU. I completed my MBA at the University of Phoenix. Other than yoga, what do you like to do?I’m not one to sit around. I love to skip, run, play frisbee, hike, weight training, ski, snowshoe and golf! Do you have a favorite place that you have visited?Ugh, just one? I have many special places. I love Moab and British Columbia. I really want to go back to London and Ireland, but Cuba was super cool too! |
What have you been doing since the quarantine started?Since I have the time, I have been meditating and practicing yoga. I have continued to work at IBM, and I’ve enjoyed working out and playing outdoors. What has been your biggest challenge since you have been quarantined (other than not being able to teach)? One thing I really miss is visiting with my mom. We play Yahtzee or do crafts on weekends. And, I do miss social outings with friends. |
![]() What shows would you recommend? We don’t own a TV or do Netflix; however, we do have a theater in our basement. The last movie we watched was Knives Out and I definitely recommend it. I also read a lot of books and magazines. Recently I read, Stephen King’s Joy Ride and The Stand and recommend both! |
Where will be the first place you will go when everything opens up again? The spa for Mani and Pedi. I won’t be able to visit Mom for a while. She is housed in Memory Care and they aren’t allowing visitors for a while. Any words of wisdom? Please be patient and considerate of others. Everyone’s situation is different, and some quite dire, but we must work cohesively (safe and smart) as we enter the new normal. |
